ALIGN & BREATHE with Susan - Wednesdays 4-5:15pm and Sunday 8-9:15am
Mr. B.K.S. Iyengar states: "The art of yoga is in the acuity of observation." This class will invite students to use their power of observation to align movement with breath, to notice the finer points and actions of alignment in a posture, and to observe with compassion the mind/body/spirit response to posture practice in order to adjust and accommodate to one's individual needs. Susan's instruction embraces: alignment to ensure body safety while extending and expanding the body fully, the breath to coordinate with movement to steady and quiet the mind, and the use of props to assist and support the student in poses. It is through the process of observation during yoga practice and the turning of attention inward that one begins to tap into the well of intuition, spirit and healing. Susan encourages her students to view their experience on the mat as one of exploration and discovery, using the heart as a compass to lovingly navigate the inner landscape of mind/body/spirit connection.
